Good Food Local: The London report 2025
Good Food Local: the London report assesses council action on food under six key themes - food governance and strategy, food growing and community food action, healthy food for all: addressing food poverty, and stemming the flood of unhealthy food, sustainable food economy, catering and procurement and Food for the Planet.
This edition marks the 13th year of tracking council progress on food in London. Measures are aligned with the Sustainable Food Places’ six key themes, plus councils are asked how work on ethnic and cultural diversity in the food system is embedded across all six themes of the survey, and any action councils are taking on food in nurseries and early years settings.
Other pressing issues measured in the report include how councils tackle household food insecurity, promote healthy diets, support a flourishing local food economy, and address the role of food in the climate and nature emergency. All of these affect the way we eat, our health and the communities we live in. The report shows more councils in the city are supporting food partnerships to tackle local and complex, cross-sector food issues to help Londoners eat and enjoy healthy, sustainable and affordable food and that councils are stepping up to support food insecure Londoners by improving school food and supporting food access for all.
