Reports Capital Growth

Published: Monday 19 August 2024

This report summarises the responses of 119 people representing food growing projects across the capital. This survey of network members was undertaken during July 2024 and the questions cover details on the members’ garden, their challenges, Capital Growth’s support, and views on what the future focus of the network could be.

Themes of the survey findings include how gardens provide training and education opportunities, how they are working towards biodiversity, accessibility and inclusion goals, the need for more funding and the role and value of Capital Growth as a network.

What next for the network in 2025?

Member gardens feel that the top three areas for Capital Growth to prioritise are:

  • Helping garden groups be better organised, inclusive and welcoming
  • Supporting gardens to deliver health and wellbeing
  • Supporting the Right to Grow campaign

Respondents also told us that they are particularly interested in having more training on how to build climate-resilient systems, improving biodiversity and specialist growing topics.

Capital Growth: We believe everyone should have the opportunity to grow food as part of a healthy, resilient food system and we are working with our network of growers in London to make this happen.
