Review of Grocery Code Adjudicator: stakeholder meetings

Open meetings are being held around the country to discuss the performance of the Groceries Code Adjudicator, and consider whether to extend the GCA's remit.

The Groceries Code Adjudicator (GCA) enforces the Groceries Code, which aims to ensure fair and transparent transactions in grocery supply chains. It applies to the 10 largest UK supermarkets and their direct suppliers. There are proposals to extend its remit to include many more suppliers.

The GCA Act requires the Government to review the GCA's performance. This first review covers the period from the creation of the GCA in June 2013 to 31 March 2016. The process includes a series of open meetings where stakeholders are invited to share their views.

The next event is in London on Wednesday 16 November. Subsequent events will be held in Edinburgh (12 December), Belfast and Cardiff -- more details here.
