News Good to Grow

This year's Good to Grow competition winners revealed

More gardens than ever took part in Good to Grow week this year, which made picking the best growing shot our hardest challenge yet!

Another year, another incredible Good to Grow Day! Over 2,000 volunteers participated in activities at 155 gardens across the UK. We had the challenging task of sorting through all the lovely photos to decide on our prize winners.

This year we had more entries than ever which made it even harder to choose our winners. We received a mountain of wonderful photos, so thanks to everyone for taking part and for putting so much time and love into making it such a special day. I must confess – it was a very difficult decision, and I want to extend a huge thanks and congratulations to everyone who submitted a picture. They were all fantastic.

After a nail-bitingly close decision, here are the winners:

Tidemill Academy's shot of some of the country's youngest gardeners won us over during Good to Grow week. The Deptford school submitted a picture of their reception children getting involved in gardening with this quote:

At Tidemill Academy, we feel passionate about helping children develop their understanding of healthy food and the benefits of growing plants, fruits, and vegetables. Our young children loved visiting the Albany garden, where they discovered many plants and insects. After planting the sunflowers, the children took their pots back to school to continue looking after the seeds and watching them grow. We are very grateful to the staff at the Albany for making this experience so memorable for our children.”

We loved this fantastic shot of a volunteer getting stuck into muddy plotting submitted by Incredible Edible Prestwich as part of a multi-site activity during the week.

I'm Andrew (a volunteer), and I register all our gardens for Good to Grow. It's a good way to promote Incredible Edible Prestwich, and this time we ran 4 sessions at different sites throughout Good to Grow Week.”

Congratulations to our winners and a huge thank you to everyone who took part in the week. You can find more photos on our Twitter and Instagram pages or with the hashtag #GoodtoGrow2024.

Happy growing and see you in 2025!
