Young Food Writer of the Year

17-year-old Georgia Kirby fought off stiff competition to win this year’s Guild of Food Writer’s competition for aspiring food scribes

Kirby's evocative piece, ‘The Importance of Ambience’, which you can read here, reflects her childhood joy of learning to cook and the pleasures of food in her memory.

The judges, Karen Barnes, Felicity Cloake and Seb Emina, voted unanimously for Kirby and were impressed with her beautifully descriptive language and emotive storyline.

Sustain member the Guild of Food Writers makes the award annually to further its aim of encouraging excellence in discussion and description of food.
