UN says ‘reduce meat consumption’

The chief of the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) is urging governments to help curb the consumption of meat in an effort to reduce soaring greenhouse gas emissions. The director general warned that with the rise in demand for meat and dairy in developing countries ‘the question of equity and efficient distribution grows in importance.’
