Childhood Obesity Plan website launched

One site records actions to date on the steps Government is taking to reduce childhood obesity.

The Government's Childhood Obesity Plan -- downgraded from a strategy -- was much criticised when it was launched last summer. But for all its deficiencies, it is moving forward -- and this new website details its plans and actions, and describes the progress so far.

Ambitions include the aim to reduce the sugar content of manufactured foods by 20% by 2020, the decision to introduce a soft drinks levy (which Sustain had campaigned for) and the commitment to update the nutritional standards for school meals.

Keep up with progress via the website here, and read more about Sustain's work to promote healthier children's diets here.
