Open Farm Sunday date announced

Sustainable farming's annual open day, organised by LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming), will this year take place on Sunday 5 June, and the organisers are hoping to beat last year's record participation

This year's Open Farm Sunday, the day on which LEAF farmers all over Britain throw open their fields, tractor sheds and milking parlours to visitors, will take place on Sunday 5 June. Last year’s event saw nearly 400 farms welcome over a quarter of a million visitors, and LEAF is hoping to beat that record in 2016. This year, farms producing not just food but also crops for medicine, fuel, clothing and manufacturing have been invited to take part, showcasing the whole range of products that are grown on the land.

Activities range from simple farm walks to much bigger events, with LEAF regional coordinators providing lots of help with planning and publicity. Farmers wishing to participate can register here. Nearer the date, visitors looking for nearby Open Farms will be able to find details on the LEAF website.

LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) promotes sustainable agriculture, food and farming. Foods produced to LEAF standards are identified by the LEAF Marque.
