How Brexit will affect animal welfare

A useful, detailed Briefing Paper from the RSPCA explains what leaving the EU may mean for farm animals and animal welfare regulation.

Sustain member the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) remained neutral during the EU Referendum. It is now campaigning to ensure that animal welfare is not compromised as part of the process to leave the EU, and that opportunities are taken to improve existing policies and standards.

This Briefing Paper, The EU Referendum result: the impact on animal welfare,  summarises the current situation, identifying all EU rules and regulations that affect animal welfare and explaining what their status is in UK law. It then specifies which legislation should be maintained, and where improvements could be made.

The Briefing Paper is available on the RSPCA website here.
