We are holding our forth SEWN event at the Calthorpe Community Garden in Kings Cross, in collaboration with Social Farms & Gardens, to gather food growers in North London together for networking, talks and workshops.
This event is aimed at gardens, growers and council officers woking across these boroughs: Camden, Enfield, Islington, Barnet, Brent and Haringey.
SEWN Together – a series of events taking place across South, East, West and North London (hence the acronym!) – dives deep into the four quarters of London to platform the great work happening in food gardens tackling the nature and climate emergency and helping to build more resilient communities.
Hear about Incredible Edible Hackneys progress on getting a Right to Grow motion, and how we can gain better access to land. Explore how we can better prove the biodiversity benefits of food growing with the London Nature Recovery Strategy team and try out some nature recording methods with lead ecologist at Cody Dock.
We'll also be looking at how we better support the people that make community gardens happen - how do we better resource our vital gardens leaders and lift the next generation of food growers up.
10:30 - 11:00: Arrivals & introductions
11:00 - 12:00: Speaker presentations
Hear from a mix of council officers, growers and the Social Farms & Gardens and Capital Growth team about exciting activity, ideas and opportunities in North London.
12:00 - 13:00: Open group discussion
13:00 - 14:00: Lunch
13:45 - 14:15: Guided tour of host garden and space
14:15 - 15:30: Breakout groups & workshops
15:30 - 16:00: Reflections & close
Capital Growth: We believe everyone should have the opportunity to grow food as part of a healthy, resilient food system and we are working with our network of growers in London to make this happen.
